The Masters may be completed, but in many ways the PGA Tour season is just getting to the thick of the schedule. The tour heads to Hilton Head for the RBC Heritage, and although the purse isn’t as big as The Masters, there still is a ton of money up for grabs in One and Done pools. The field isn’t as strong, so there are a lot of options to choose for PGA One and Done picks.

What is a One and Done pool?
A One and Done pool has some similarities with NFL survivor pools except that you cannot be eliminated early for making a poor pick. Each week you have to select one golfer, and their prize money earned that week become your points. You cannot use the same player twice, just like an NFL survivor contest, so strategy and knowing when to save a top-tier player can make the difference. At the end of the season, the team with the most cumulative earning is in line for a big payoff. Your pool will pay several spots, depending on its size, similar to a GPP structure in DFS.
The Masters Recap
Jordan Spieth
Spieth was one of the most popular picks in DFS and One and Done pools, as he is back to his old world-class form. After winning two weeks ago at Valero, it was clear Spieth had to be considered heading into a place he absolutely loves. Spieth lurked around the top of the leaderboard, but a few too many mistakes didn’t allow him to threaten the lead. Spieth still tied for third, which was good enough for a $667,000 payout and a positive result in One and Done.
Rory McIlroy
Usually a ton of buzz gathers around McIlroy come Masters time, as he is still looking for that elusive win and the career grand slam. This year he came in considerably more under the radar, and the spotty play had many questioning where his game was. His putter had let him down in a few spots during 2021, but he still had typically been able to find the weekend and produce some decent finishes.
Unfortunately, he still has a lot of work to do, as his game really is not close to where it was when he was atop the PGA Tour. He wasn’t able to make an easy Masters cut, and for anyone who went to him last week, it was a big swing and a miss. Fortunately, in One and Done pools there’s always time to make up ground.
Jon Rahm
Rahm was another top-end player who came into Augusta with some buzz. He treaded water the first three days and then fired a bogey-free 66 on Sunday, which launched him all the way to a tie for fifth. That was a $437,000 payday that made the choice a lot better than it seemed during the opening few rounds of the tournament.

RBC Heritage PGA One and Done Picks
Webb Simpson
Simpson has a chance to be the most popular One and Done pick, but it’s hard to ignore him at this event. His game fits perfectly for what this Pete Dye layout demands, and he is the defending champ. Not having to be aggressive off the tee plays right into Simpson’s hands, and he checks most of the boxes for One and Done. Coming off a 12th-place finish at Augusta, Simpson is ready to possibly add another win to the resume at an event he plays every year. The consistency in finding the weekend is there, and with the weakened field, he is among the favorites in this spot.
Matthew Fitzpatrick
Fitzpatrick is another player whose game fits what Harbour Town demands. After a pretty rough start to his RBC Heritage appearances (two missed cuts in three years), Fitzpatrick has found his form with three straight made cuts, including two 14th-place finishes in recent years. He has been fantastic tee to green, and like Simpson, he benefits from this second-shot, technical layout. Players cannot overpower this course, and for a guy like Fitzpatrick, who relies on the short game, that is a recipe for success. His best finishes are still in front of him at this event, and this is the time to buy on Fitzpatrick.

Tommy Fleetwood
Unlike Simpson and Fitzpatrick, Fleetwood’s game is not a homerun in terms of fit with Harbour Town, but that doesn’t mean he can’t succeed here. He has been a frustrating player all season, seemingly flashing moments of top-end form mixed with periods where his game isn’t there. It was more of the same last week at Augusta, with brief surges up the leaderboard but an uneventful 46th-place finish.
One positive is that Fleetwood played this course in 2019 and gained strokes in all four categories en route to a 25th-place finish. More importantly than a single-event sample size is that he has shown he can succeed at these technical tracks, with top-end finishes several times at the Honda Classic. The big questions are where his game is and if his inconsistency can be trusted. For this reason he, is a more aggressive One and Done play this week, but teams that are chasing should not mind the dice roll.
RBC Heritage PGA One and Done Pick: Matthew Fitzpatrick
This pick splits the difference in terms of risk tolerance, as Simpson is the chalky, safe option, while Fleetwood is a very aggressive One and Done choice. Fitzpatrick finds a nice middle ground as a player who most likely is available and still has the upside for a larger pay day. In a field like this, he is squarely in play in all formats and has shown in the past he is getting more and more comfortable at this layout. Having not missed any cuts on the PGA Tour in 2021, Fitzpatrick has a solid floor and short game abilities that could lead to a breakthrough.
